How Fast is NitroEDB?
Depending upon the type of data being managed, the quantity of data being managed, and other factors, NitroEDB can operate much faster than tuned SQL databases, up to as much as thousands of times faster.

- NitroEDB provides the greatest performance— up to thousands of times the speed of MyISAM. You can use NitroEDB in two ways:
- By joining the EcoSec program, which will allow you to use NitroSecurity's Enterprise Security Manager as a high-speed engine for your data collection, storage, and analysis needs. EcoSec is designed to help innovative security companies keep pace with information security threats with minimal development work.
- By working directly with the NitroEDB engineering team. Professional services costs will be required. This option is designed for customized data management needs outside of information security, and will require professional development.
How is that Possible?
Well, those numbers only apply in certain database operations—common ones, certainly—but not every operation will get a 1000x boost. NitroEDB uses several patented technologies to improve database functions including:
- Intelligent indexing — allowing more data and meta-data to be kept within the indices for super-fast retrieval
- Optimization of time-series data — When collecting lots of data over time, optimizing how sequential data is stored and retrieved provides massive performance boosts — especially on very large data sets
- Analytics within the Indices — The use of index aggregates allows certain analytic calls — such as counts, averages, etc. — to be performed 'on-the-fly' as new data is collected; providing baseline and trend information in real-time.
